Tema International School (TIS) is a private co-educational boarding school situated some 10 kilometres north of the port city of Tema, which lies on the Greenwich Meridian. It offers courses leading to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB).
The school opened in October 2003, and was established to provide a holistic education that complements the National Education System and facilitates access into universities all over the world.
The language of instruction is English.
Students enrolled in the Pre—IGCSE Programme (Grades 7 & 8), follow a curriculum designed by teachers to merge seamlessly in to the IGCSE courses in Grade 9 and 10. Currently students in TIS come from eleven different countries around the world majority being Ghanaians. The average class size is 25.
